Dear fellow Italians,

On the occasion of Festa della Repubblica Italiana, I wish to share with you a message of deep pride and unity. June 2nd marks a pivotal moment in the history of our beloved Italy: the day in 1946 when the Italian people chose the Republic as their form of government, laying the foundation for a new era of democracy, civil rights, and progress.
This anniversary is not just a national celebration—it is a time to reflect on the value of freedom, the strength of our democratic institutions, and the shared identity that unites us, wherever we may be in the world.

For us Italians living abroad, and especially for the vibrant and passionate Italian-American community in Michigan, celebrating June 2nd carries an even deeper meaning. It is an opportunity to reaffirm our connection to Italy, to honor our roots, and to pass on to younger generations the values that inspired the birth of the Republic.
Here in Michigan, our community serves as an extraordinary bridge between Italy and the United States. Every day—through our work culture, cuisine, entrepreneurship, and art—we contribute to strengthening the presence and prestige of Italy in this great American state. Festa della Repubblica is also a chance to proudly show who we are: global citizens with hearts rooted in Italy.

As Consul of Italy in Detroit, it is my great honor to represent you. I am deeply grateful for the passion, dedication, and love you show for our homeland. Together, we can continue building bridges, strengthening relationships, and celebrating the richness of our Italian identity.
I wish each of you a wonderful Festa della Repubblica. May it be a day of joy, reflection, and shared pride. Let us celebrate with our hearts turned toward Italy and our eyes on a future of peace, unity, and collaboration.

Long live Italy, long live the Republic!
Allegra Baistrocchi,
