The DIAC will host a chartered boat cruise & pizza from 3 to 5 p.m. through Diamond Jack’s River Tours. The cruise will be northbound toward the new Gordie Howe International Bridge. The annual Festa Italiana will be held Friday through Sunday at Freedom Hill Park in Sterling Heights. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m. Friday with a Parade of Italian Clubs. Italian American Idol Contest
Festa Italiana is looking for four Italian American idols! The four contestant age groups are: Up to 8 years; 9 to 12 years; 13 to 17 years; 18 and over.To enter, send a clear video, YouTube link or MP3 of either an Italian song or an Italian themed song to the following email address: italianidolcontest@gmail.com. Preference will be given to those contestants singing in Italian or an Italian themed song. Songs can be in any category. Include your name, age, parent’s name if under 18, phone number, and email address.Video must be received by July 10, 2026. If you are selected to participate, you will be contacted by July 15. The contest finals will take place on from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Freedom Hill. A panel of judges will choose one winner from each age group.
Frank J. Palazzolo Memorial “Judges Judging Meatballs” Contest
Once again Macomb County Judges will put their taste buds to the test and determine which contestant cooked and brought the “ultimate” meatballs to the Festa Italiana. Judging begins at 2:15 p.m. and is based on the taste, juiciness and presentation of the meatballs. There are two categories: Individual and Restaurant Meatballs, and a plaque is awarded to the winner of each category. In addition, the winners’ names are engraved on a trophy. So, bring a dozen of your famous meatballs in sauce and let the judges decide who cooked the best meatballs in town. To register as a contestant, email: festaitalianameatballcontest@gmail.com. Beautiful Baby Contest
Calling all Italian and Italian-American babies between the ages of 9 months and 5 years of age! The annual Beautiful Baby Contest will be held at 2 p.m. at Freedom Hill County Park. Beautiful Babies need to be at least 25% Italian and will be judged within six age groups: 9-18 months; 19-23 months; 2 years old; 3 years old; 4 years old; 5 years old. Entries will be limited to seven children per age category. To enter the contest, forward ONLY ONE 5×7 or 8×10 clothed photo of your baby to ItalianFestival.BabyContest@gmail.com. Cannoli-Eating Contest
Who can eat the most cannoli in a five-minute period? The annual Festa Italiana Cannoli-Eating contest will determine the 2026 champion! The contest will take place at 1:30 p.m. The winner will receive a commemorative plaque, and all contestants will receive a souvenir T-shirt. Contestants must be 18 years of age or older.
